Energy efficiency and LEED

Energy efficiency and LEED for sealed buildings

About 12 watts per unit, built for tightly sealed buildings that must pass random-sample indoor air quality tests for LEED certification.

Chapter 01

About 12 watts, like the bulb in your refrigerator.

Each unit uses very little energy, about 12 watts, which is about the same as the light bulb in your refrigerator. For a building with a sustainability target, that matters: the air purification adds almost nothing to the energy load.

That low draw is also why the technology suits tightly sealed, energy-efficient buildings. The tighter a building is sealed, the less outside air it brings in, so the air inside has to be kept clean on its own terms.

Units sit on the HVAC supply side or stand free, from a single office to a whole skyscraper, and the unit count comes out of the assessment, not a rule of thumb.

Passing random-sample air tests.

Clean Science's products help tightly sealed, efficient buildings reach their target indoor air quality standards so they pass the random-sample tests used for LEED certification.

Be clear about what that means. We help a building reach its target. We don't promise a certificate, because the certificate is earned by the building. What we can point to is the technology: Clean Science's materials cite third-party independent labs and universities reporting that it renders airborne toxins inactive by up to 99%.

The Fisher Brothers study followed the same measure-first approach. They tested PHI-Cell units for 18 months in their own 50-story, 2 million square foot tower in New York City before installing PHI across the portfolio.

Chapter 03

Setting it up for your target.

Bring your indoor air quality target to the assessment, and the engineer starts there.

The engineer still reads the fan schedule and inspects the HVAC, because the unit count and the install work don't change with the certificate. What changes is what you're measuring against.

Each product is less than $.20 a sq ft, delivery takes 2 to 4 weeks, and the assessment turns that into one number for your building. Request a quote with your square footage, traffic, use and fan schedule, and we reply within 24 hours.
