Assessment and audit

Indoor air quality assessment in New York

An engineer visits, reads the fan schedule to set the unit count for your square footage, and inspects the HVAC to size the units and the install work.

Chapter 01

The engineer reads the air before anyone sells you a unit.

A purification unit only works as well as the count and the placement behind it, and you can't read either one off a floor plan. So Clean Science sends an engineer to your space in New York before anything gets quoted. You set the visit by phone, which is answered 24 hours a day, or through the quote form.

The first thing the engineer asks about is the fan schedule, meaning how many hours a day your air handlers actually run. That schedule, read next to your square footage, sets how many units the space needs. An office, a gym, a clinic and a kitchen can share a floor area and still need different answers, which is why the quote form also asks about typical traffic and what the space is used for.

A single office, an entire floor and a whole skyscraper all start the same way: one engineer, one fan schedule, one honest count.

Then the engineer looks at the HVAC itself.

The second half of the assessment is physical. The engineer inspects the HVAC structures in your building to decide what size of unit fits and what installation work the job will need. That's the part no spec sheet can settle, because every building's air handlers, ductwork and access points are different.

In-HVAC units go on the supply side, near the source, so they treat fresh inlet air before it travels to the room. Where a space has no suitable ductwork, free-standing units such as the Microcon3000 or the REME ION do the work instead. Which of the nine units belongs where is an outcome of this visit, not a sales script.

It matters more than people expect. Clean Science's own reading is that more than 50% of all major office buildings have contaminated heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, so the engineer is looking at the system as well as the room it serves.

Chapter 03

What you get back.

You get a recommendation, not a catalogue: which units, how many, and which install package fits.

From there the quote follows. Each product is less than $.20 a sq ft, and the final number depends on what the assessment finds: the unit count, the install package you pick and any service options. We reply to quote requests within 24 hours.

It's the same measure-first habit behind the 18-month field study Fisher Brothers ran in their own 50-story, 2 million square foot tower in New York City before installing PHI across their portfolio. Send the square footage, the traffic, the use of the space and the fan schedule through the quote form, and the engineer arrives already knowing the room.
